Olympic road race. Box hill access

I read that there's 2 ticketed areas on box hill which I took as there would be plenty of scope for getting there early and getting a spot. I've since heard that the road will be shut from 4am and you need a wrist band to get in.

Is this true? And if so where can I get 2? I know it's late notice but there must be some out there

The Box Hill managed area located on the Zig Zag Road incline and Donkey Green, allows spectators to enjoy the race from one of the best vantage points on the route, while protecting the wildlife in one of the most important nature conservation sites in Europe.

The majority of the 120km route of the Road Race is free for spectators to watch, including the rest of the loop around Box Hill.

of course, if you're in the area...

I was in Cycles Dauphin at the top of Box Hill autumn last year (great bike shop!). They said that they were planning something for the carpark in front of the shop. They are on facebook and twitter but I cannot find a website. If 'something' involves a big screen then I would go there! Might be worth giving them a ring.

Hmm, men's 100m final. Don't suppose you have 2 spare do you!
Seriously, I couldn't give a rats ass about track events plus you can't really compare standing on the side of a road to sitting in a stadium now can you?

Somewhere like Richmond park, I think you'll be free to wander around there, watch them going out and coming back?

This map shows the ticketed area and also the limited access area where you would need a wrist band to access

Great. Love it! Take it thats for every inch of the loop?
Not worth going to watch them blast past once, just spent a week at the tour doing that. Looks like good ol tv then.
Thanks for saving me from driving down to be turned away

its not for the whole loop.. just the zigzag portion of box hill, the mall etc.

i.e. places where you'd likely be trampled to death if it wasn't controlled.

The wrist bands were only given out through an official site if I remember right and if you don't have one or a ticket, you are getting NO WHERE on box hill

Maybe if you'd asked a few months ago...

they were allocated through the same ticket system as the rest of the oplympic events.

Next you'll be asking how to get into the Men 100m final 24
