Safer trucks for tarmac

With all the risks associated around trucks, it's nice to know one major firm is taking steps to ensure better safety for cyclists and other vulnerable road users. The EU may have decided that there is no need for such technology to become mandatory, but it is interesting that some more responsible companies are installing the systems anyway. I could be cynical and say that this investment will help lower the insurance premiums for the firms in the mid-term, and maybe it will, but the safety benefits for everyone else are hard to criticise. I hope more firms follow suit:

Tarmac has placed an order with TrafficAngel for 60 blindspot proximity sensor systems with unique functions. When the driver pulls up alongside stationary traffic or a high wall etc, the alarm will fall silent after seven seconds. Should a cyclist or pedestrian then try to squeeze through any gaps, the system reawakens and will sound again.
