I've got a Tissot Touch, had it for about 5 years. I try not to use it for riding as I don't like metal straps when I work out.
It's a nice geek toy but probably not really worth the cost.
As a riding watch I'd either go for a Timex expedition or Ironman or a Casio GShock
g-shock all the way
Anyone ever owned a T-touch?
Cant beat a Timex Expedition, cost less than £25 from Argos. Had mine for over 7 years now and still working perfect. It's got an alarm and date as well.
If you are talking cheap and sturdy it's got to be one of the many variations of Seiko 5 (IMHO).
Proper mechanical watches, none of this quartz crap and available in lots of different styles from ~£50.
Hmm - what exactly is wrong with quartz watches?
"quartz clocks are at least an order of magnitude more accurate than good mechanical clocks" - Wikipedia
Can't beat a classic.

Actually looked at that while in Argos getting my son a new watch the other day but this kept springing to mind:

One of these maybe? http://www.stemcaptain.com/
Got one of them on my hybrid - can't do without it now. If it is a watch (as in on the wrist) go for a polar, good size time display and a HRM also, if wanted. So far waterproof (took a nosedive off the MTB) and does put up with some abuse.
