women for women cycle china 2010

I have registered to do the Women for Women Cycle China in Sept 2010, and would really love some advice/help on the best way to train for it. I will be cycling a total of 450km over 5 days...... I have started to train but I also have a bit of weight to loose as well so fighting two battles and once.

If anyone can give me any advice on training etc then I would be really greatful

Training for anything the basics are:

Build up slowly.

Include enough rest.

Understand what your goals are and target them.
(e.g. to cycle approx 100km a day for 5 days in a row, you probably want to focus on building endurance rather than the ability to sprint)

Understand what your weaknesses are and improve them.
(e.g. if you aren't particularly good at hills, ride up lots of hills)

Identify when in your current life/schedule you can include training and work with it to keep motivated.

In my opinion one of the toughest challenges you'll face between now and Sept 2010 is motivating yourself to get on the bike and train regularly/consistently. Especially when winter sets in.
