'Glastonbury of mass participation sport' set for Cornwall next Autumn

September 2012: three days of on and off-road cycling including a leg of Cycletta for women plus swimming and running...

The organiser of the recent Cycletta women's sportives and former organiser of the London Triathlon is launching a Festival of Sport based in Mounts Bay in Cornwall next September.

Describing it as "a unique ‘Glastonbury’ of mass participation sport with triathlons, cyclo-sportives, running, off-road cycling, open water swimming and live music," Nick Rusling the Chief Executive of Participate Sport Ltd the organisers of the new Festival of Sport – Cornwall says, "the real joy of being involved in these sports is spending time with the participants who are invariably sociable, fun and have a love of the great outdoors."

The three day event on September 14th – 16th 2012 will be open to all and held on the St Aubyn Estates at Mount’s Bay in West Cornwall, famous for the view of St Michael’s Mount. "Competitors of all abilities are welcomed to the South West to participate in this exciting new destination event," according to the organisers, "consisting of a high-octane combination of triathlon, sportive cycling, an off road 6 and 4 hour Enduro, open water swimming and a beach run as well as live music, beach sports and so much more."

Participate Sport is behind the ongoing Cycletta women's sportive series and previously organised the London Triathlon, Abu Dhabi Triathlon, Etape Caledonia, Run to the Beat and the Barcelona Triathlon. There will be leg of the Cycletta series included in the Festival of Sport - Cornwall.

According to Nick Rusling, "The aim of this unique sporting event is to bring together like-minded fitness enthusiasts from across the UK who want to take part in highly professional sporting events in a hugely relaxed and fun environment. The core sporting activity will be delivered to the highest of standards with distances on offer to cater for all abilities and the schedule of events will also allow competitors to enter various activities over the weekend."

"Triathletes can try the Off-Road Enduro and Open Water Swimmers take on the Beach Run. The three day sporting schedule guarantees competitors to have an exceptional sporting experience and also offers value for money for all the family, with Festival Fun and Beach Sports included in the event entry fee."

Well cool,i live in cornwall and not enough events happen down here and they couldnt of picked a better location,stunning
