curling your toes !! riding with toes tending to curl up ....

Ok then I have a problem .. Hmmm which I have overcome somewhat to a point .. BUT other peoples experiences / solutions would be appreciated :

When I pedal I tend to curl my toes upwards therefore causing pressure on the big toes especially... this has now caused my right toe on the left side to be partly numb..

I have overcome this somewhat by using triathalon shoes with mesh tops such as pearl izumi (more room) .

Using normal SIDI shoes etc.. I have had to use a very slim shoe insole to cope with the toe curl... to give more toe room !!!..

I also suffer some hot foot /foot swelling for the first 10 miles of a ride... this goes away as the ride goes on...

Note I always keep my toenails clean and clipped

I use very good wide platform pedals in Miche range...

Any advice to help or share the problems encountered ? comments appreciated...

maybe incorrect cleat position? -> it could be too far forward putting upward pressure on your toes?

Nope not Hammer toe.... the problem only really seems to affect my big toes and when using shoes without room I do find that the skin under the toenail can turn white at the tip (pressure) ... a bit weird I know .

Went to the docs about the slight numbness in the left side of my big toe, this numbness was after a san fran to LA ride a few years ago and its never gone away ... he put it getting OLDER.... BUT it does seem to be a result of pressure ...

my feet otherwise are in good shape .

But thought I'd put it our there is anyone else has a similar issue...
