Sunday's Amstel Gold race was another cracker, with Philippe Gilbert coming back to form to take a second consecutive win. In the Fantasy Cyling overall table it's all change again, with a new leader, and don't forget that there's another stage coming hot on the heels of the last one!
First off, the week's top scorer. Hats off to team oiuroior (not sure how you pronounce that) who managed an impressive 79 points. Picking first and second (Gilbert and Rodriguez) is always going to be a good start, and when you back that up with Kolobnev (5th), Hermans (8th) and Martens (10th) you know you're going to have a good day. You can see the stage table here.
At the top of the of the overall table it's an impressive rise to number one spot from team black men, who despite having missed the first stage top the table on 254 points. That's an average of 63.5 points a stage which is nothing short of incredible. Black men also had five scoring riders for Amstel Gold: Gilbert, Kolobnev (5th), Freire (6th), Hermans (8th) and Cunego (15th) for a total of 70 points. Looking at the top of the overall there's some familiar names from last year: black men have form, having won the Vuelta game last year, and team saioarri, who lost out in a countback last September, are bubbling under in 11th. Turns out some people are just good at this kind of thing... Keeping the road.cc office end up are Simon Macmichael (10th) and Tony (15th) – Oli is 67th and Dave's measly 4 points from Sunday means he's dropped like a stone to 484th...
Normally you'd be sitting back now and trying not to cash those transfer chips too early ahead of another race on Sunday. But not this week: the Flèche Wallone is on Wednesday – not Thursday as previously advertised – so you basically have today and tomorrow, and a bit of Wednesday morning, to get your changes done. Cancellara's done his bit for now, and one Alberto Contador is currently on the start roster for a first Fantasy outing this year...
We hope you're enjoying Fantasy Cycling this year, whether you're in with a shout of a prize or just having fun trying to beat your mates in a mini league. If you have any suggestions or comments about the game, feel free to post them on the forum or email them to game [at] road.cc - we want to make it as good as we can!
Cycling infrastructure does not force drivers to break the law, drivers are the reason they break the law, no one else.
