Video: Behind the scenes at the Cyclocross World Champs with SRAM

Season long seasons series of behind the scenes films at world's top races...

SRAM will be giving us an insight in to what goes on behind the scenes at the world's top cycle races this season in a series of films Chasing Jason, their European Road Sponsorship Manager, Jason Phillips as he provides technical support to SRAM sponsored riders at races around the world.

In episode one we go back in the mists of time (well, the end of January) to catch up with Jason at the Cyclo Cross World Chamiionships in Sankt Wendel won for the second year in a row by the Czech rider Zdenk Stybar, yes on his SRAM Red equipped bike. There is much footage of bikes in workstands wheels spinning, and it looks flippin' freezing the course was frozen in places and of course everyone loves SRAM Red. It is interesting though to see the level of support SRAM, like Shimano, Campagnolo, and Mavic too give riders and teams using their kit, actually it's more the mechanics of those riders and teams.

It's a two way process as well, the technical support guys are getting continuous feedback from their riders and team mechanics from right at the sharp end where bikes, components, equipment, and riders are being tested right to the limit and beyond - and it doesn't get much sharper than the 'cross world champs or a weekend on the cobbles. We're guessing the level of technical insight offered moves somewhere beyond the 'it's great' comments offered for the cameras.

There will be more episodes of Chasing Jason as the season moves on… although amusingly Youtube led us directly into a world of Friday 13th spoofs at the end of this one.
