Five cool things coming soon from Canyon, B'Twin, Ale, JRA and Hiplok

More kit, bikes and gear that we're testing at the moment before the road.cc verdicts are delivered...

My god it's hot! And we've been testing some pretty hot products recently in keeping with the weather; here are some of the highlights...

Just Riding Along Gecko carbon wheelset

£850.00

justridingalonggeckocarbonwheelset-rearhub

Just Riding Along, or JRA for short, specialise in wheels, hubs an tubeless solutions, and the Gecko set are an affordable carbon option for adventure road and gravel riding. Available in 650b or 700c, they weigh 1280g an 1325g for each size respectively and are built around their own JRA Centre-Lock disk hubs. The internal width is 21mm for plenty of tyre clearance, with a minimum of 25mm recommended and a max pressure of 80psi. The hubs with their cool Gecko print are 6 pawl, 48 point engagement with stainless bearings, and the rims are tubeless-ready with tape already fitted when you buy them. With a quality spec and crash replacement scheme, is the ride as good as the deal? Check back for a review soon.

Alé Graphics PRR Strada SS women's jersey

£100.00

alegraphicsprrstradassjerseywomens

This women's jersey from Alé promises plenty of cooling despite the predominantly black colourway, thanks to antibacterial Carbon Triangle fabric at the rear to ventilate. Alé's PRR range has a Body Mapped ergonomic fit that is supposed to sit close to the skin without restricting movement, and there are flat seams throughout to reduce chafing. The fabric is also supposed to provide UV protection up to and above factor 50, keeping even the palest types protected from sunburn. In this hot weather, is the Strada SS Ashia Fenwick's feel good kit of the summer? Find out in her review next week.

Canyon Endurace AL Disc 7.0

£1,349.00

canyonenduracealdisc7.0-riding1

The Canyon Endurace has of course been around the block for a while now in its aluminium guise, but this is the first time we've got our hands on it for long-term testing. The Disc 7.0 version has a full 105 groupset, and the frame shares the same geometry as the carbon Endurace with a weight that is still pretty low at 1,350g. It comes with 28mm Continental Grand Prix tyres for added comfort, with DT Swiss wheels that have thru-axles front and rear and quality 160mm disc rotors from Shimano. Is this the ultimate alloy do-anything bike at sub-£1500? Stu Kerton's verdict is imminent.

Hiplok Z Lok Combo

£19.99

hiplok_z_lok_combo.jpg

While this handy little lock isn't going to fend off an angle grinder attack, it's an affordable and light solution for locking up your bike in low security areas/for a short amount of time. The innovative zip-tie system locks it together and there's a combination to lock and close it, and the core is made of tough stainless steel. The locking is double-sided for extra convenience, and it weighs a tiny 20g. Will it do for trips to the shops or more? Dave Arthur's review is coming soon.

B'Twin Hoprider Urban Hybrid

£549.00

btwinhoprider100

This hybrid from bargain bike experts B'Twin appears to have everything you need for leisurely city riding and more, with 27 gears, an adjustable stem and integrated dynamo light for reliable night time visibility. A pannier rack makes carrying all your work stuff a breeze, and 38mm Schwalbe Marathon tyres make for an extra pillowy ride over potholed city roads. Find out if Matt Lamy thinks it's a proper bargain commuter in the review later this month...

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.

Can't say I'm that blown away by the B'twin especially at that price point. 19.3 KG!!! Their own riverside 100 is 5 KG lighter and is £400 cheaper!!! Madness.

The addition of the Pannier Racks, Mudguards, Chain Guard, Marathon Tyres and 21 Extra Gears over the Riverside 100 can easily add an additional 5kg.
