Dissent133 gloves ...

Anyone had the first batch?

Any good?

I've spent a fortune in gloves over the last few years (between walking and cycling) and if they are actually decent I don't mind paying for them.

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

My pair have finally arrived. Overall I'm impressed. Last week at -1 oC in the morning with the liners and shower light but no wool defeet my fingers were a but nippy by the time I got to work but nowhere near as cold as usual.

I think the wind resistance works well at cutting out windchill and I'm sure if I'd gone for all 3 layers of have been quite toasty - didn't go for it as I wanted to test things out.

At the weekend in the Peak District it was a bit cold and windy but the shower light gloves alone kept things warm if a bit sweaty.

I love the overall design of the outers and the way they expand to fit.

Whether it is worth it is another question entirely. They are very expensive - but I really suffer from cold fingers on my morning commute and so far these are the best performing gloves I've had - even better than my heavy lobsters and previous merino liners with big cycling gloves.

I'd recommend if you have problems with your current gloves in winter.

Well the outdry gloves came this morning to complete the set.

Glad I waited, looks like I have glove for any type of weather.

I am a happy little bunny 1

Received an update - they say there was a ‘visual defect’ with the batch of Outdry gloves that turned up from the manufacturer. Been told to expect the Outdry gloves ‘mid March’.

By way of an apology they have sent me a pair of ShowerLight gloves (normally £30) free of charge.

So, disappointing as it is not to receive the Outdry gloves for winter, which hopefully will be of little use by mid March (yeah I know, wishful thinking!) I think as a customer you have to accept that things don’t always go to plan. What matters then is how a company deals with you when such issues arise.

From what I can tell, the Rider Firm have been honest in their communications, always responded in a timely manner to enquiries and have now offered a gesture of goodwill by sending me the ShowerLight gloves free of charge. In my book that makes them one of the better companies to deal with out there.

As for the ShowerLight gloves performance, well, I paired them up with the DeFeet glove for a cold dry ride the other day and they performed ok. They are not waterproof, as the name suggests, but windproof. My hands stayed warm on a short, fast blast around the Cheshire Lanes with a temperature of 7*C even though they did get a bit damp from sweat.

Mine just arrived - waiting on the outdry pair as per previous posts.

First ride yesterday, 3-8 degrees C, cloudy. Wow, I'm impressed. Wearing all three layers, fingers were lovely and warm. Dexterity was fine (Ultegra 6800 levers).  No bunching or odd feelings in the webbing of fingers etc. Length was perfect for me, using their sizing chart.

DISCLAIMER: I have the shittiest circulation, ever. I'd normally wear a merino liner and a pair of Sealskinz Lobster mitts in these temperatures.

I’ve only ordered the outer glove and as with others still waiting. I have been told they will be with me next week.

You can get the inner Defeet glove much cheaper from various places and the liner, well, I have always used Meraklon gloves for a fiver...

It's run by the Riders Firm isn't it the same people who design and make Hunt wheels? If so, I'd give them my faith as any issues that have arisen in the path they have fixed. Shame about the Outdry but having worked for a very large waterproof manufacturer I can tell you it's very hard to get right the first few times and yours and the factorys expectations can we way off. This will be made worse by how small a customer they are likely to be for the factory

I have now recieved my gloves which I ordered in november, the package I received did not include the outdry glove that I initially ordered, I have now been told after contacting them.

"Unfortunately there was a QC issue and only a few OutDry layers were sent to us, sadly we did not know this until the package arrived. We have since been told that they should be with us for early March "

Not happy at all, coin in the air at the moment as to returning them.

The rest of the set looks nice but £95 for a set of gloves that are not waterproof is .............

I'm waitng for a review, trashed a second set of sealskins when I came off last time.  The Shimano s-phyre ones seemed to have a good review as well.

As per the OP, if they keep my hands warm I've no problem paying for it.  I'm currently using some silk motorcycle liners + sealskin gloves - they are fine after 30-40 minutes, but my hands are sufficiently cold it hurts up until then.

Just hoping for one or two more opinions before ordering

They just do gloves?! Interesting if they are any good; I know it is a crowded market place these days, but unless the product is outstanding, that's not the first item I would try to sell.
