Our old mate Jesse Norman

Good lad, you've got yourself in the papers again!  This morning's Telegraph (I know, I know, but bear with me) has a story that the cost of traffic jams has reached £9 billion per year.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/10/18/9-billion-pounds-wasted-year-...

And guess who's popped up with the suggestion that slip roads could be used as contraflows on motorways.  Sounds brilliant!  Why did nobody think of this before?

'In a letter to Highways England obtained by The Times, Mr Norman called for measures to "look after motorists", who can be caught up in delays for a number of hours with no food or water.'

Poor things, stuck in all that traffic created by other people.  I wonder whether there might be an alternative solution. . .

@A "lad" called Jesse: The ever increasing size of vehicles is only adding to the problems of insufficient roads. Have you seen the size of "vans" nowadays? Have you noticed how far apart the front seats are in modern cars? Only bicycles and motorcycles remain the same size that they've been for over a century. Get everyone back into 1970s Honda Civics and Fiat 500s and you might be able too park near your house and fit in lanes. How many long john bikes could you buy with 9 beelions? (Ans: about 3 million - that should solve local delivery problems and obesity in delivery workers.)
