Police hunt Bath motorist who punched cyclist

Assault took place after cyclists remonstrated with motorist over his driving

Police are searching for a motorist in Bath who punched a cyclist after the latter remonstrated with him about his driving.

The incident took place on at around 4.15pm July 20 between the Neston Country Inn and Neston Primary School near Corsham, reports the Bath Chronicle, after two cyclists say they were cut up by a man driving a red saloon car.

According to a spokesman for Avon & Somerset Constabulary, “an altercation ensued which resulted in the cyclist falling from his bike and then being assaulted by the driver."
The driver is described as a white male, around 6ft 2ins tall, aged between 40 and 50 and well built, with short fair or grey hair. He was wearing a light-blue T-shirt.

The victim, a 52-year-old man from Bath, received cuts and bruises to his face and a swollen ear. Police are asking anyone who saw the incident or who knows who the driver is call Heather Osak in the Crime Management Unit at Melksham police station on 0845 408 7000 extension 728609 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

CCTV is always pointing in the wrong direction - a friend of mine took a dive off his bike when a car turned left in front of him without indicating. My friend broke both his elbows and this happened right across the road from a large police station but the cameras didn't pick it up. A while earlier some dolt opened a car door on me in the same spot - all the cars had ground to a halt so she decided to get out and didn't bother to look as she clearly didn't have the intelligence to appreciate that there would be cyclists and motorcyclists filtering through. I hurt my hand and wished that I'd aimed for the door as I would have bent it right back, damaged the hinges and hopefully damaged the wing too.

Someone told me the other day that he did not need to use indicators in a car park, as I was nearly sprawled across his bonnet. Wish I had worn the cam. I am all for helmet cams - I used mine for a great mountain descent in Maui. Got it at Cycling Paradise

Did you mention that the driver of the car is described as a white man, about 6ft 2ins tall, between 40 and 50 years old, well built, with short fair or grey hair and was wearing a light-blue T-shirt? And once more for luck: the drive of the car is described as a...
