Vulpine launches luxury winter clothing range

New urban lineup includes mac and trench coat and lots of merino wool

Vulpine has launched a Luxury Winter urban cycling range that includes a men’s mac and a women’s trench coat, both made in Britain, along with a cashmere sweater. It looks like the lineup is well-named in that it’s made from high-end fabrics with neat details.

The cycle-specific aspects of the designs are subtle. When you’re walking around town the clothing certainly won’t shout,  “I’ve just got off my bike”.

Here are the range highlights.

Men’s British Cycling Mac £395

The Men’s British Cycling Mac is available in dark navy and stone. It is made from a British Millerain fabric that’s designed to be breathable and showerproof, and it comes with a reflective tail split.

Women’s British Cycling Trenchcoat £395

The Women’s British Cycling Trenchcoat is available in the same colours and is also made from a British Millerain fabric, but this time it’s a double-breasted design with a belt. Like the men’s mac, it comes in a cycling fit with pleated shoulders to allow the movement you need to reach the handlebar.

Men’s Half Zip Merino Cashmere Sweater £150

The Sweater is made from Italian cashmere and merino wool and features suede shoulder patches that are designed to prevent abrasion from the straps of a bag.

The Men’s British Silk Scarf and Pocket Square (£80) and the Women’s British Silk Scarf (£60) are “woven by British artisans” – how very Rapha-esque! – while the Merino Winter Collar (£25) is available in four different colours.

I love vupline i have been following and buying from them since they started. I have managed to pick up bits and pieces over the years by getting bargains in sales or as birthday present treats. It's all been brilliant quality. However, £400 for a jacket is just too much, British made or not.

395 quid jackets. Seriously, how did cycling come to this?

Almost as much as Corbyn's extravagant "dream bike". But, truth be told, cycling got there a while ago

I think it's more £350 city jacket for cycling than cycling jacket for the city. Pretty much the same price as brands like HugoBoss and I imagine that's the same customer.  Interestingly good technical jackets for climbing are similar prices but seem more palatable. I guess it depends where you sit on the functional-style spectrum.

Ahaha  Really does look like something wrong is happening down below laugh

Curious, Rapha put out a city collection email just now. Much less Burberry looking that this stuff above. Really nice crewnecks and colours. Some of the prices though.. I mean honestly. £350 for a top.

Ah, but it's limited edition which means it's eBay value will rocket after it's sold out!  Speculate to accumlate and all that jazz.  Still just a jumper at the end of the day though.

I think you'll find that, my friends, is Blue Steel! Or is it Magnum - I forget now...

I would think the road bike, trench coat and brogues end of the market is quite small before you charge £400 for the coat.

Looking like a constipated Michael Fassbender also seems to fit with the clothing.

Reynolds had some lovely ones on display at Eroica - nearly 300 quid so definitely high end!

I've bought lots of Vulpine and Hoy stuff over the years and it is really great. However the prices are going up, up and up. My budget will  not stretch to anything new now. Looks like they're catering for the London scene and high end exclusivity.
