Fantasy Tour de France: our weekend winners!

Who topped the scoring tables over the weekend?

Well we've had a bumper weekend of racing on the Tour and some bumper scores too. And with a road.cc tee up for grabs for the highest score on every stage from now until Paris it's more important than ever to post a big total. So who's been top of the list this weekend?

Saturday saw the sprinters frustrated by Alexandr Vinoukourov who snuck off the front on the final climb to solo to the line, with Mark Cavendish bringing home the peloton. Juan Antonia Flecha was the pick of the bunch though, picking up some intermediate sprint and mountains points and the combativity award to boot. And Flecha was the backbone of the Gasworks squad, who topped the scoring on Saturday with 99 points.

Sunday brought the Pyrenees and a fantastic break from Christophe Riblon, who spent 160km at the front of the race and picked up a win and 60 points for his troubles. With all the main GC contenders finishing at the head of the field too, it was a bumper day for scoring. Oddly enough, neither of the two teams that picked up the most points – a whopping 161 each for Les Tigres de l'Tourmalet and Gie's a push – had Riblon in their line-up but each had the same eight scoring riders, meaning that the win was decided on the value of the ninth team member, with Gie's a push edging it by a couple of credits.

Well done to our two weekend winners, and who knows? tomorrow it could be you! There's more big climbs and a balls-out descent into Bagnères de Luchon to sort the field out, who do you think will be first past the post? Transfers close at 11am on Monday, choose wisely!
