At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

A decent pair of bib tights can make a world of difference to comfort levels when riding in cold conditions, and are a worthwhile investment. That said, there's always a hope that it's only going to be a short spell where they'll actually be genuinely necessary, so cost, quality and comfort are always going to be in delicate balance. The Dhb Women's ASV Roubaix Bib Tights successfully manage to deliver the performance and quality of far pricier options and are spot on for long ride comfort.

These are designed for demanding pro-level cyclists, and made from gorgeous fuzzy Italian Super Roubaix fabric. They instantly feel and look a lot more expensive than they actually are. The addition of some colour accents (or grey bits for those who are allergic to colour in their bibs) gives them a bit of a design lift too, an alternative to the more common plain black offering.

There are zips at the rear of the ankles and gripper tape at the bottom, along with a host of reflective bits and pieces all over the place.

The fit and cut of these tights is just right, with plenty of stretch to suit all types of figure – tall or short, curvy or athletically built. The fabric feels extremely comfortable next to the skin and wicks moisture quickly and effectively, helping to maintain a good, stable temperature.

The bib section is a stretchy-around-the-boob affair and features nice broad straps with a mesh panel in the centre of the back to help ventilation a little. The level of stretch in the fabric means the straps are nice and comfortable, and should suit all sizes of bust without feeling overly obtrusive. There were no issues with draughts or any feeling of constriction at all when riding on the drops.

The pad is a high quality female-specific CyTech Endurance chamois. In-the-saddle comfort was high, with the pad being very effective without being bulky.

These tights really don't have any flaws, and are extremely good value for money compared with many more expensive options, particularly during one of Wiggle's sale periods. The balance of warmth and breathability is just right for cooler UK riding conditions, for any distance, no matter what the effort level.

Verdict

Well designed, good looking and perform superbly. Great value for money
