Flat Tyre, Me or Inner Tube?

 photo imagejpg2-1.jpg

Above a photo of my inner tube, split in 2 places, next to each other.

Big hello from me, not a complete newbie, used to be a Roady, but due to back issues, settled on. hybrid for the last 6 yrs, but too slow. Just purchased a Spesh Roubaix Disc. Lovely!!!

Please advise, I am big enough to be told the truth 1

Has this been pinched due to shoddy replacement or something else.

Feel it could have been pinched as new tyres fitted a few days ago, but have been out before today.

Reason I ask, are inner tubes are cheaply ones, so if I need to spend more, then I will!!!

Funny it happened almost at once, had only gone 2ml in to ride, so had made sure pressures were good before I left. It happened so fast I was good then felt the back end become uncontrolled, and then the wheel bouncing off the road...

Weird one, as have many punctures, think due to my weight, but none like this, checked tyre before putting new tube in, but nothing, tyre was clean.

Thought could be cheap inner tube!

Appreciate comment, will get some chalk 1

It seems unlikely you caused a 'bite' that big yourself. Most likely it would have been from a pot hole or stone maybe? You should have felt it though.

One thing to try before replacing a tube is to rub it all over with French chalk. The chalk acts like a lubricant and reduces the chances of pinches.

Thanks for the feedback.

I didn't really want to know anyway!

PS: after you patch those two holes you may also find a slow leak elsewhere, which was causing the loss of pressure.

Might be:
- tyre pressure dropping and you hit a rock/bump
- riding through snakes

I'd say it's almost certainly snakes.
