Live TV coverage of men's race at National Road Championships this Sunday

British Cycling has confirmed that there will be two hours’ live television coverage on British Eurosport of this Sunday’s men’s road race at the National Road Championships, as well as highlights of the women’s race. The programme will air from 4pm to 6pm.

The same evening ITV4 will screen a one-hour highlights package at 7pm of the preceding Thursday’s men’s and women’s individual time trials, as well as the men’s and women’s road races, and all races will be available to watch in their entirety on British Cycling’s YouTube channel from Wednesday 1 July.

The governing body’s cycle sport and membership director, Jonny Clay, said: “British Cycling is delighted to be working with both British Eurosport and ITV to bring live and same day highlights coverage of its national road championships to fans of British cycling. 

“These channels are the home of cycling on TV in this country and as such we will be seeing these prestigious championships broadcast alongside some of the biggest bike races in the world.

“The courses that await Britain’s top riders in Monmouthshire next week are challenging and fans can expect to tune in to some world class racing as they watch the country’s best riders doing battle for the coveted red, white and blue jerseys on offer to the winners.”

The time trials take place on Thursday 26 June on a course starting and ending at the Celtic Manor Resort, with Alex Dowsett and Joanna Rowsell both defending their titles. The elite women and under-23 men tackle one lap of the 21km circuit, which the elite men go round twice.

The road races all start and finish in the centre of Abergavenny, with the elite and under-23 men’s route 186km in length, while that of the elite and under-23 women’s race is 101km. The current men’s and women’s champions, Mark Cavendish and Lizzie Armitstead, both take part.
