Socks

What are your favourite pair of socks for the summer days?

I used to wear Castelli socks before getting a nice new pair of shoes, which fit perfectly apart from being slightly too big in the buckle area which means I have to crank it to max to be snug (the next size down was too small in other areas). Are there any lightweight summer socks with a slightly thicker section across the "groin" of the foot? I find no problems ratcheting my winter socks to a comfortable level.

Socks is one of the areas where I'm not too picky about. I just like them to not go too far up my leg, but any thickness really is fine for me, I don't find it affects me.

Although I don't exactly wear woolly ones!

The groin as in where the top of the foot curves into the ankle.

Absolute BS.

I believe it is commonly called the 'arch' of the foot, or even the sole, not the groin.

What's the difference between cycling socks and, er, socks?

Defeet Levitator. Perfect height and supremely comfortable. Rapha pro Team Long are very, very nice too.

I love my DeFeet Woolie Boolie merino socks all year round - thicker, but being merino it works for both colder and summer riding, maybe not for the hottest days, but then we only get those twice a year.

DHB summer socks, not too low not too high, squeeze your foot in the right places and perfect for 3 of 4 seasons 4

The DHB ones are a bit thicker than my Mavic summer socks also so they might be right up your street 1

Oh and of course, super cheap! 1
