Sorry mate, my fault, i scored 145 but i had a 10 point penalty so ended up with 135 and came 222nd on the stage. I had worked my score out myself without looking at the results and forgot i had the 10 pointer.

I've had an extra portion of humble pie 2

From what I saw, the attacks were not enough to shake some guys, Swift went out the back and used his descending skills to get back into the group. From there is was simple, he was the only sprinter there.

The winner today is

1 Ferguson Videostars NFLUKMOD72 183

Their score will go up a point or two when the youth stats come in

Swift looks like a great bet to challenge for wins on intermediate stages in Grand Tours (the Sagan style stages) if he can win days like today. Awesome stuff.

There were a few attacks, Weening attacked a couple of times and Valverde and Contador attacked together too.

Can someone please explain to me how swift managed to stay in a group of climbers to outsprint them all....was there no attacks on the last two climbs? 13

He's a pretty decent climber and he tried really hard maybe ?

He isn't that good a climber that he can live in that company if they were properly attacking hence the second question about attacks ....

It was really good stuff from Swift - there were a couple of attacks, and Movistar were driving a pretty hard pace from quite a long way out (40-50km). Lots of decent climbers didn't manage to hang in there, but Swift did. So no unusual explanation, we just have to assume that he's got really good legs at the moment (3rd in San Remo remember) and is maybe better uphill than a lot of us thought. I could imagine him hanging in there in a larger group, but to be one of a group of just 20 surprised me too. Excellent to see.

1 - Swift
2 - Valverde
3 - Kwiatowski
4 - Slager
5 - Cunego
6 - Gautier
7 - Hivert
8 - Peraud
9 - Contador
10 - Evans
11 - Jeannesson
12 - Pinot
13 - Monfort
14 - Trofimov
15 - Van Garderen
16 - Yates (S)
17 - Poels
18 - Spilak
19 - Sanchez (S)
20 - Kiserlovski

So that's 2,3,5,8,9 for me (and pretty much everyone else).

Congrat to anyone who actually picked Swift for today, very impressive to win from riders like Valverde. Swift could well turn into a great rider if Sky give him the chance.

Yeah, their graphics showed Roche first, same as yesterday. Don't know what's going on there. They also showed Hivert in seventh, which is good for both my teams, but I don't trust the graphics so I'm not counting my chickens yet!

Contador has got to go for it today with the ITT tomorrow. Kwia is still in with a good shout of the overall as is Valverde

New break -

Barguil
Albasini
Gilbert
Mollema
Lulu
Jungels
Serry
Iglinskiy
Koldo Fernandez
Malacarne
Wellens
Zandio
Fraile
Oliveira
Plaza
Daan Olivier 14

If I'd have known we were giving 4 points per day to Daan Olivier as an under 21 by the time I'd made my transfers, I'd have had him in my team today.

It was a strong break, Rui Costa was in there but it got pulled back, a new break is up the road:

#itzulia Leaders: 1/2Plaza Oliveira, Albasini, Zandio, Jungels, K Fernandez, Iglinskiy, Mollema, Sicard, Malacarne, Wellens, Serry, Olivier, Barguil

#itzulia Leaders: 2/2 Fraile, LL Sanchez. After 54km gap is 55"

Very large and strong break, I reckon that stays out all day unless one team, Movistar maybe, keep it on a short leash and try and set up the win for Valerde.

Zona Matxin
‏@ZONAMATXIN
#Itzulia hay fuga: Intxausti, I. Izagirre, Rui, Albasini, Moinard, Edmondson, K Fernández, Brutt, Gautier, Wellens, Serry, Txurruka, Piedra

But TS brought that breakaway back is now only jungels at the front.

edit: I'm guessing the breakaway above is the latest / current but will leave this here for reference anyhow.

Four transfers for tomorrow. Not sure how I'll use them though.
