wHICH HELMET CAM SHOULD i PLUMP FOR

39 About what camera I should be buying this month...for the reason that by having a camera you are more likely to make someone think twice about actually physical action after you have kindly informed them that their actions endangered your life.
This, after an elderly gent trying to use a mobile while driving on the Finchley Road this weekend took offence to me telling him about the rules regarding using a phone whilst driving.

Would also like to use for the odd MTB trail I hit on trips to Cardiff area

So in your vast experience folks, what are your views on the JVC, Go Pro and other offerings about

thanks

My first helmet Cam was a Contour Roam2 due to its nice ergonomic shape & use. Film quality is very good & picks up sound very well, its down side is the built in battery that lasts 3hrs & recording at night is terrible & practically impossible to see what it is you're recording.
Coz of the downsides, I tried the Gopro 3 & it went back as was buggy & failed on 80% of recordings. replaced it with a cheaper alternative Isaw A2 & I love it! Pic quality & sound is great, has changeable battery & is fantastic at recording at night. It also comes with all the mount fixtures too so definitely value for money. replaceable batteries & charger you can get quite cheap too. Here's a comparison video of the contour roam 2 & Isaw A2 I did to help others: http://youtu.be/qmup7cCfdIM & I'm now selling the Contour to get another Isaw.

okay, Contour I have seen and liked, not keen on GO pro as I hear its expensive for all the add ons. Was hoping for insight into JVC Adixxion, But i guess I shouild read into the lack of response on that one. Also the name is a bit crap but i like the actual camera when I saw it at the bike show.
Thanks you for ll your comments so far..... very helpful.

Have you looked at the dogcam Bullet HD2 - www.dogcam.co.uk

Smaller & tougher than anything else on the market, simple to use & discrete.

I'm still loving my Drift HD Ghost. The Contour Roam 2 comes a close second. I found the GoPro a bit too fiddly and ungainly, but everyone else seems to love them so what do I know.

I use the Contour Roam 2 - mainly because the shape is more conducive to a helmet mount. I quite like it, and it produces pretty good images (full HD, 30 fps). Battery seems to last pretty well and it's rechargable by USB.

There are downsides - the vented helmet-mount system is not very good (although it works acceptably well), so the resulting footage is a little jittery (although easily good enough identify a number plate), and it's not particularly stellar (pardon the pun) at night. I was also using an older Countour HD as a rear-facing camera, using their 'pole mount' on my rear carrier, and that was working very well. That one has died, though, so I'm in the market...

I've never worked with any images from a Contour, so have no idea how that compares. GoPro produces great stuff though.

GoPro are the default action cam used by the pros. Solid, great image, and lots of useful features if you want to use it for anything other than your own head.
Does stick up on top, making you look like a right berk though. Oh well.

Also shows in advance that you are wearing a camera!

Big love for my GoPro - only downside is battery life (and maybe cost of 'genuine' accessories) but for commuting it's more than adequate!
