Vuelta a Andalucia

I love a good Spanish race with lots of Spanish names like Valverde and Wiggins 4 Who doesn't?....

So why not another Forum Competition?

It's enough to drive you crazy, but here goes! 1

The Vuelta a Andalucia runs from Wednesday February 19 to Sunday February 23 2014

And who doesn't like a hilly, mountainous route? I do. So, yep, in the middle of the chaos of Premium players playing the Volta Algarve on top of the Tour of Oman, I offer the forum diehards the opportunity to burn their brains following yet another stage race - the Vuelta a Andalucia! Crazy, right?

Here's what it looks like *rubbing my hands with anticipation*

7.3 Km Prologue
Stage 1 Cat 1 Cat 3 Cat 3 Cat 2 Cat 2 Cat 3 Hilltop Finish
Stage 2 Cat 3 Cat 3 Cat 1 Summit Finish
Stage 3 Cat 3 Cat 3 Flat Finish
Stage 4 Cat 1 Cat 3 Cat 3 Flat Finish

Check out the profiles here:

http://www.vueltaandalucia.es/

Just click on the Stage you want to see to see the profiles.

Obviously, it's got a start list with some pretty good names that are not going to Oman or the Volta Algarve - Valverde, Wiggins, Porte, Fuglsang, Scarponi, Mollema, Kittel, and Boassen Hagen. Pretty good names! 1

So, who's in? Anybody? I won't blame you if you bow out! I know it's a lot of racing, but if you want to join the fun, you're welcome to give it a cursory shot! 1 At stake is nothing more than the pride and honor of winning a Forum Based Competition on a very prestigious cycling website (this one, namely Road.cc, of course!) 1 Happy Hunting! 1

Here's cyclingnews.com coverage of the race last year, won by Valverde:

looks like 1,7,16,17,19 for me and all 9 riders still in the game

5 scoring KOM climbs tomorrow(not including the non scoring Summit Finish) so hoping for a Choo-Choo/Jensie breakaway.....classic sawtooth stages on this tour all the way through

Who'd have put Kiryienka ahead of Porte,Wiggins,Gee and EBH as the top SKY prologuer?

If its not too late (you did say start of prologue, which is not yet) I will swap Fuglsang and LL Sanchez and bring in Arredondo and Degand (taking out 15.4 and 10.2 + my 1.9 spare credits, replacing with 19 and 8.4, so 27.5 replaced with 27.4)

Cheers Enrique

Linus is now on cycling fever - I think he is riding

I would, however, like to take out Kangert for Arredondo, this is bound to be lower than 16.6

Revised team:
31.5 Alejandro Valverde
25.7 Richie Porte
22.9 Bauke Mollema
17.2 Daniel Navarro
<16.6 Julian David Arredondo (3 or something)
15.7 Tom Dumoulin
10.2 Luis Leon Sanchez
4.8 Thomas Degand
3.0 Linus Gerdemann

That (!) is a game changer right there... what nice pick! The 2nd highest scorer out of San Luis with an average of 37.0 points on a mountain stage... He got 7 points the day of the 19.2 K time trial, too... You may end up beating the crap out of us with this pick... I can't believe all of us missed him! Good choice!

At San Luis he was at 3.0... I wish I could give Dave the data to see what he would go up to, but I'll value him at 19.0 and that'll square you away at a cool 150.0 points... I've also added him above...

I was looking at the startlist on Cycling Fever as I've always found it reliable, but one of them is obviously wrong! If there is still a discrepancy later today, maybe anyone with Gerdemann should nominate a replacement just in case, and then you can amend the teams accordingly depending on who starts?
