Schwalbe Durano tyre

Price:
£32.99

Schwalbe's Durano is 'for mile eaters': a training specific tyre. As a dual compound, folding tyre and at 235g, it is slightly more than this, a true utility tyre but how does it fare?

The first thing you probably want to know about a training tyre is what its puncture protection is like. Included is Schwalbe's premium level protection: RaceGuard, a synthesis of rubber and nylon moulded into the standard rubber. Schwalbe say this adds very little to weight and rolling resistance.

Hutchinson Toro CX 700x32c

Price:
£26.99

Hutchinson make a lot of road tyres, they also make a lot of mountain bike tyres, and squeezed between the two are just a few cyclo-cross tyres with the Toro being one. With its pattern of small, square knobs it looks like a mountain bike tyre but smaller, which comes as no surprise as it's based on Hutchinson's Toro MTB tyre.

Best summer tyre?

Hi all, as a beginner to road riding I am looking for some tyres which have good grip in the summer weather, what tyres would you recommend? Preferably 28c front 25c rear. Thinking

Thanks in advance.

Alex.

Schwalbe Kojak 700x35c tyre

Price:
£36.99

The Schwalbe Kojak offers great all-weather cornering prowess and are the fastest big volume slick I’ve ever used. Superior town manners mean they're a real hoot when shod to crossers that do turns on the tarmac. Reflective sidewalls, dynamo tracks and similar detailing are notable by their absence, however, and despite a sympathetic riding style, the race guard protective belt seemed unduly susceptible to thorns, sharps and other roadside debris.

Vittoria Open Pave Evo CG folding tyre

Price:
£49.99

Vittoria's Open Pave EVO CGs ride like tubulars with the convenience of a wire on and should satisfy the most demanding of four seasons racers thanks to ultra high density 320 tpi casing, puncture resistant Kevlar belt and very modest weight. However, ours initially demanded the mighty “Speed Lever” to persuade the ultra supple casings aboard a common or garden Mavic wheelset so resist the desire to mount them in the heat of competition unless you have a finely honed knack for seating stubborn tyres in seconds.

Help! New Shimano ultegra 6700 wheelset - can't get tyres on!

Crying
Per title, I've taken delivery of my new spanky Ultegra wheels and I've had a helluva job getting tyres on. The rims are tubeless compatible (so says the sticker) although I'm trying to run normal clinchers.
I couldn't get Bontrager tyres on, I struggled with Conti Super sports, and I finally got a pair of Conti Grand prix's on after a complete mare and (shame oh shame) a couple of broken tyre levers. The obvious problem will be if I ever get a flat out on the road I'll be calling home for a lift.

Continental Giro Tubular 700x22

Price:
£17.95

There aren’t too many tubulars out there that are cheaper than the Continental Giro. Sure, you can find some, but this is certainly at the budget end of the market and it’s billed as an ‘inexpensive training tubular’. Bear that in mind and don’t go expecting a top level racing performance. But as an off-season run-around, it’s fine.
