Turbo trainer

Exercise Bike vs Turbo Trainer

I own a exercise bike but I have considered getting a turbo trainer. When I am on my current exercise bike I can still hit the relevant heart rate zones when training. Plus the bike is very quiet, unlike any turbo trainer I have come across.

So the question is what benefit would I actually get out of a turbo trainer? Other than having a actual bike feel and multiple gears. When I am training at 155 bpm does it matter whether it is on a Turbo or exercise bike.

FS - Elite SuperCrono Inertial ElastoGel Turbo Trainer

Little used Elite SuperCrono Inertial ElastoGel Turbo Trainer for sale - £90

Bought when I broke my hand last October and couldn't bear being off the bike for the month I was originally told... Only for the turbo to arrive and for me to have the plaster removed 2 days later!

Been used a few times (less than 30), but some marks where it has been stood on with cleats.

Photos available on request. Any questions just ask.
Quite heavy so collection preferred, or mutual meeting... But this can be arranged...

I also have a 26" turbo tyre on ebay for sale here.

Wattbike: The best bits

It’s with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that the guys from Wattbike want their Wattbike back. I know; gutted. That’s my three-month loan period done and it’s out of here tomorrow.

So, before it goes, I thought I’d tell you what I’ve found the most useful features…

Which Turbo Trainer?

I've finally decided to buy a new turbo trainer (just in time for summer) and have narrowed it down to 4. They are all similarly priced, and far as I can tell, there are no real differences between them. I've read loads of reviews, they all seem to have positives with no negatives - it seems that I may as well base the purchase on colour.

The four in questions are:

CycleOps Mag+
Elite Novo Mag Gel
Tacx Sirius Soft Gel
Blackburn Tech Mag 6

FS Tacx trainer with brand new rear wheel

For sale. I received this trainer for christmas but haven't really had much use for it. Ive only actually used it once in fact. The combined retail value of the trainer and stand are around £170. The wheel is a brand new DT swiss axis 1.0. Not entirely sure of its value but I'm guessing around the 50-60 mark. Im selling the whole lot for £130.

I'd rather have it collected but i'll consider posting it if need be.

Thanks

Scott

Clarke CCTI Bike Trainer

Price:
£77.99

If you're eager to dip your toes in the murky waters of turbo training then this 7-level magnetic resistance unit from Clarke is one of the more budget-friendly options available. It's relatively cheap and relatively cheerful, but if you get bitten by the static training bug then you'll likely be looking to upgrade sooner rather than later.

Lemond Revolution trainer

Price:
£399.99

The Lemond Revolution is a high-quality indoor trainer with a great ride feel and it's built to cope with long hours of training. It isn't light or quiet, but I'll trade those two for the ride sensation and enough stability to cope with everything up to a full-on sprint.
