Indoor training and DVD's
Hi,
Just looking to get some advice really and any feedback from people who may have used traning videos.
I completed my first tour in May of this year. Loved every minute of it and couldn’t wait to get back on the bike. Cut a long story short, I have really damaged my left hamstring and my left hip isn’t working too well. I am seeing a specialist about this at the moment who has advised its OK to ride until im in a moderate amount of pain, he would prefer the turbo as I can get off at any point. If im in the middle of the countryside it could be harder to get home.

I'm helping a friend of mine out - Dr Garry Palmer from Sportstest. He is giving a seminar next week (Thur 1 March) on "optimal nutrition for endurance athletes" (see: http://www.sportstest.co.uk/Successful_Seminars.htm ) and needs a few more attendees to make it worthwhile.
Not sure if anyone has seen this but just wanted to draw your attention to it.

Garmin Connect / MapMyRide etc. User? Check your privacy settings
If you're a user of a GPS logging site like Garmin Connect, MapMyRide, Endomondo etc. then you may want to check and consider changing your privacy settings.
Garmin for example have default privacy set to 'share' so that means any ride you upload is publicly searchable and visible to anyone. A quick look in my local area searching under 'cycling' and the word 'home' showed up loads of tracks called things like "ride home from work", "training loop from home" which basically amount to a location where a bike is kept.
Static training
So I'd like to get a bit more training in, but time is a bit of a squeeze. Commuting by bike isn't an option, but the gym over the road does have some spinning bikes. I'm wondering whether to join up and try that. Anyone tried them? Are they an effective training tool?
So the question is - (assuming there isn't an organised class at lunchtimes) what options do I have to get some motivational stuff onto the iphone that I could use in lieu of a class?
Turbo trainer DVDs? Any reason why these wouldn't work as well on a spin bike?

mixing training and commuting
Hi all
I ride to work about 4 days a week, 7 miles each way on my Brompton, it takes about 35 minutes total, so not slow, but less quick than my road bike. So I get about 60odd miles this way.
I want to start training properly, but all the pre-baked training guides don't account for riding to work. I need to go easy on the way in, as I've a day of work to do. I can go quick on the way home, but I can't easily extend that ride. So I get two proper rides in the week, sometimes just a Sunday run.

Got some great books here. All of them are in excellent condition. All of them are half price or better.
