Paris-Nice 2010: Sky celebrate as Henderson storms first stage

Team Sky's Gregory Henderson snatched an impressive victory in the first stage of Paris-Nice, between Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines and Contres.

The New Zealander stole a march on 17 riders in the final bunch to take the win, with Grega Bole (Lampre) and Jeremy Galland (Saur Sojasun) coming in second and third, David Millar (Garmin Transistions) was also handily placed in the final break and is now jumps to third placed overall 13 seconds down on overall race leader Lars Boom of Rabobank.

Olympic champ Cooke calls for 'Team Sky for women'

A call for a female equivalent of Team Sky has been made by GB Olympic champion Nicole Cooke.

Cooke was speaking as she prepared for her return to racing later this month. She has been dealing with uncertainty over a sponsor, the German team Nürnburger, and while she's now fixed up with the Great Britain squad for the rest of the season, she acknowledges that others might not have the options she has.

Team Sky score first Belgian win as Juan Antonio Flecha takes Het Nieuwsblad

Team Sky started their Spring Classics campaign with a bang with victory in the Het Nieuwsblad (formerly Het Volk) today in Ghent when Juan Antonio Flecha won by 18 seconds after making a decisive break with 19Km to go. Het Nieuwsblad is regarded by many as the first race of real significances in the Belgian spring calendar so this victory is a real feather in Team Sky's collective race caps.

Tour of Qatar Stage Five: Torpedo Tom blows them away to win again

On a windy day in Qatar Torpedo Tom Boonen once again blew away the competition to take this second stage win of the race and edge closer to taking the overall win for the second year in a row. As the race entered the final kilometre of the stage from Lusail to Madinat all the contenders were together, but Boonen once again beat them all to the line, Napolitaon of Team Katusha came home in second place with Sky's star sprinter Edvald Boasson Hagen in third.

Tour of Qatar Stage 2: Double blow for Team Sky's Norwegians

Belgian cyclist Geert Steurs of Topsport Vlaanderen won Stage 2 of the Tour of Qatar in Doha today, arriving at the finish with Dutchman Wouter Mol, who takes the race leader’s yellow jersey, almost two minutes ahead of the chasing group.

The day-long breakaway gives the two unheralded riders every chance of claiming overall victory when the six-stage race finishes on Friday.

Wiggins leads Team Sky to opening time trial win in Qatar

Bradley Wiggins celebrated his racing debut for Team Sky today as he led the squad to victory in the opening team time trial of the Tour of Qatar.

Resplendent in the UK National Time Trial Champion’s colours, the double Olympic Individual Pursuit champion helped drive his team-mates to a time of 9 minutes 41 seconds on an 8.2km circuit of West Bay Lagoon, beating Cervélo TestTeam and Garmin-Transitions, who both finished eight seconds down to tie for second place.

Garmin boss in call for pro-rider transfer system

A clearly defined 'transfer system' for pro cyclists needs to be introduced, according to the team boss who let Bradley Wiggins go to Sky.

Jonathan Vaughters, head of Team Garmin-Transitions, let Wiggins duck out of the final year of his contract and received a settlement from Team Sky to avoid a legal battle.

Team Sky’s CJ Sutton and Greg Henderson crossed the line first and second in a bunch sprint in the sixth and final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under in Adelaide today to provide a winning end to the British team’s first ProTour race. Sky may have won the battle, but victory in this particular war went to Team HTC Columbia, for whom Andre Greipel took the overall win.
