The old saying of "Snooze you lose" springs to mind!

I was going to sign up for the Vätternrundan in Sweden. If you don't know, this is the largest recreational bicycle ride in the world with a 300km ride around Lake Vättern with 21000 riders (+ 2000 Swedish Classic riders). It sold out in 2 hours 45 mins.

The moral of this story is, don't agree to look after the kids (school inset day) when there are more important things to be getting on with.....

I am visiting Stockholm for a week in late August, but with an event early in September, I do not want to miss training over that week.

Anyone know whether it is possible to hire a decent road bike there? I will be staying a little north of Stockholm in Stocksund, but am prepared to travel into the centre of Stockholm to hire bike. Are there any cycling shops that do this kind of thing?

Really want to avoid having to lug my own bike over, and not had a huge amount of success with general google search so far.

Anyone doing this 300km jaunt this year? Looking for a group to work with.

If anyone has done it before, hints and tips appreciated.
