KCNC SC Wing stem
It's hard to make a Carbon stem as stiff as an alloy one at the same weight. It gets harder when KCNC are knocking out units like this that are sub-100g and are still plenty stiff. Some of that weight saving comes in the form of some rather fiddly bolts so there's a bit of an ease-of-use trade off
Pro PLT stem
Pro are doing an excellent job of supplying top quality, attractive components to bicycle lovers everywhere and with the PLT stem they have continued in the same vein. It's a very good looking and lightweight stem from Shimano’s component arm but for an alloy offering this isn’t cheap.
Specialized Comp Road stem
This stem is brilliant if you’re not sure about the stem angle you need and you want to experiment with different positions, or if you want to change the height of your bars throughout the season or for different events. This is particularly handy for time triallists or triathletes. It can also come in quite handy if you want your (horizontal top tube) bike to look 'just right' and you need to the stem angle to match the top tube angle – or maybe that's just me.
Van Nicholas Ti Stem
There’s no denying the Van Nicholas Ti is a stem of beauty and the obvious choice for a money’s-no-object fantasy Audax or crosser build. However, super stiff CNC machined alloy or even Cro-moly steel might represent better value-especially for powerfully built racers needing super stiff cockpits.
