Sportive

Looking for my first Sportive (Scotland)

Okay - first off I apologise if this has been discussed ad-nauseam - I *did* do a quick search on the forum and couldn't see any matches, but just post a link if you know of one. Background ---------- - Serious commuter for 3 yrs now on a fairly hefty hybrid - 25 mile round trip per day with a 900 ft climb on the way home - Buying first *real* road bike on CycleScheme in April Objective --------- - A "manageable" first Sportive - Reasonable distance (<100 miles-ish) from Glasgow - Any preparation tips Thx in advance

Not A Sportive #273

*Ping*

E-mail from friend, usual suspects in the cc. Want to do this? Pedal to the Lewes Wanderers Reliability Ride that starts about 25 miles away, do that, ride home, stop for some cake somewhere in the middle, should be about 80 miles all in all.

Sounds just like a Sunday ride then, but a little bit different, a good day out.

Yes.

Etape Cymru 2012 launched, new owners promise to avoid repeat of last year's chaos

Hopes and Dreams for 2012

James

As years go 2011 was a pretty monumental one in our house... and when I say house, I mean houses.

A change in role at work, a move of home and then within four weeks our first baby. All within 12 months and one week of getting married... bullets have left guns slower than that but throughout all of the chaos and settling in, I still maintained a bit of fitness and enjoyment on my bike.

Tour of Flanders sportive

Hi

Wondering if anyone here has attended, or plans to attend, the Tour of Flanders sportive and can provide some inputs on that.

I've got a small window for a cycling holiday any time in March and this seems to fit the timing. My fitness may not be up to mark after a winter away from cycling, but that I can work on.

What I need to know is:
a) how hard is it? (so I can prepare accordingly)
b) how are logistics for getting from end to anywhere? (I plan to stay in Brugge so would need to get there end of day)

Etape Du Dales entries open

Entries are open for the Etape du Dales which is on 20th May this year. The main Etape du Dales web site doesn't mention this (yet) but the entries are handled by SiEntries who are open for business. So I've entered: now I just need to figure how the heck I'm going to get round it. Wink
