Snow

National CX Champs postponed

Just read on the British Cycling Website that the National Cyclo-Cross championships in Sutton Park, which were going to be held this weekend, have been postponed until the 6th + 7th Feb.

Nuts! I was going to go to this, and was looking forward to it taking place in the snow. I bet the Belgians wouldn't cancel for a bit of snow!

thought i'd bung the helmet cam on for a bit of fun this morning. the ride in started at a snail's pace through thick snow, and ended with very wet feet and a slush-covered bike...

Back from park!

What I learnt in the park:

1. 25mm Schawlbe Stelvios surprisingly effective going uphill once you get started, top fun on the downhill, practiced some of the tips re back braking etc etc - they work once you get used to the the back end sliding out… I was on a road with no cars mind.

2. 25mm Schwalve Stelvios are fan-bloody-tastic for off-piste downhill park action.

3. B&NES council recycling bin lids make amazingly effective sleds

London is snowed in today. Public transport has frozen. The kettle is going to be the only thing working hard today. I'm off to make snow persons.

My ride to work this morning was pretty sketchy, definitely worse than yesterday. Black ice everywhere. Didn't come off, but it wasn't for want of opportunity just read the 'riding on ice' thing on here and it's pretty much what i was trying to do: leave the front brake alone, don't change direction on anything slippy, keep pedalling...
