Convert from flat bars to drops

I've been toying around with the idea of converting my flat-bar hybrid (which I use for commuting) to drop bars. Primarily because I'd like to press it into service as a winter road bike, as it has full mud-guards. The bike is a Ridgeback Comet, which has a Shimano triple front and 8-speed rear. I've looked around the net, and there seem to be a few considerations and options, and I'm wondering what people think.

FS: Shimano 105 5600 STIs, Mechs, Calipers & Cassette SOLD

Most here will be familiar with this gear, but for what it's worth, Shimano say 105 'makes “pro-level" technology more accessible to part time racers and fitness enthusiasts. The Shimano 105 concept of "Smooth, Round and Natural" is consistently demonstrated in every component, giving its user a sense of satisfaction, pleasure and fulfilment.'

Shimano 105 (5600) 10s STIs £50
These are in very good condition, with some cosmetic scratches. However, having had low mileage, they still function superbly.

Shimano 105 (5600) 10s Rear Mech £20

Shimano Sora triple adjustment

Hello guys,

I own a Trek 1.2 with a triple chainset, and the front shifter has recently been giving me nightmares.

Unless I set tension to the absolute minimum from the barrel adjuster, it won't shift down at all. When on the middle ring, the derailleur is rubbing the chain towards the bike, and the limit screws don't seem to make any difference.

And, starting yesterday, the lever won't come back into position when shifting up, meaning that I have to push it by hand. Also, moving it requires a lot of force compared to the rear shifter, with witch I have never had any problems.

Shimano Dura-Ace STI levers

Price:
£319.99

The new integrated brake and gear levers have been totally redesigned. For a start, the brake levers are carbon to drop a few grams (the complete units are 40g lighter) and add more sex appeal. Then there’s the shape of the bracket body: you get a flatter top section with less of a scoop downwards when you’re on the hoods. We wouldn’t say they’re necessarily more comfortable, just different from before, and definitely more Campag-esque.
