Aussie surfer plans 8,600km ride home from the beach
There are quicker ways to Australia from Ireland, but taking the easy route has never been an option for champion surfer Kate Moloney.
The 27-year-old, currently enjoying the surf in Co Sligo, is planning to return home on her bike. With the occasional train and boat journey thrown in, Kate is hoping to raise almost £100,000 for charity.
Indian round-the-world cyclist reaches Dundee
A cyclist attempting the record for cycling 50,000 miles around the world has praised Scots hospitality.
Avijit Chakraborty, 39, from Calcutta, aims to complete the trip in 20 months and since leaving India in July has clocked up 15,000 miles.
He also relies on making contacts with local communities for accommodation. Since he arrived in the UK last Thursday he has been staying in the Sikh Temple in Dundee's Nelson Street

Mark Beaumont, until last month the holder of the world record for the fastest round-the-world bike ride, has thrown down the gauntlet to Scotland’s cyclists to rack up 10,000 miles in support of this year’s Children In Need campaign.
The annual telethon takes place on 20 November this year, and by then Mark will have ridden more than 10,000 miles in his current project, in which he is cycling the length of the Americas from Alaska in the North to Tierra del Fuego in the South.

Chinese cyclist's marathon comes to premature stop
A Chinese cyclist who has been riding around the world since 1997 has had to knock one country off his ‘visited’ list – because it’s too dangerous to cycle through.
Lee Yue Zhong’s 12-year trip came to a premature stop when he was deported from Somalia for not having the right documents.
He has visited 114 countries since setting off and arrived in the semi-autonomous Puntland region last week.
But he had no visa and Somali police arrested him before deporting him to neighbouring Djibouti.
Round-the-world cyclist week 11: 73 days, 9140, 96 days to go
James Bowthorpe is attempting set a new round-the-world cycling record by circumnavigating the globe in 150 days. He’s now in Australia, and has left Perth, pushing his way across the deserts of Western Australia, with his destination of Brisbane only 4,080 miles ahead.
