Ok, I am out of my depth. I have signed up for my cycling clubs ten mile Time Trial, having never done any trialling against time. I have no idea what training to do, bike to use, time to aim for, bike set up to deploy, what to wear... AGHHHH

Is it me, or is everything more expensive than a couple of years back?

Case in point,

2008/9 Spesh Allez's - Tiagra / Sora mix 9-speed set up.
2011 - 2300 set-up

Seemingly to get the £500 'basic' set up of 2009, you now have to stump for the £700+ 'sport' version, which still has an inferior rear casette / mech combo (Sora sora)

Ditto with my chosen, admittedly overpriced steed courtesy of the branding:

Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Tiagra 2010 - £820 or so (I got mine for £740)
Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Tiagra 2011 - £920

Why why why?

Hi - I'm looking for advice/recommendations on an 'audax'. By audax I mean a fast-ish bike that can accomodate 25s plus, a rear rack for light loads etc.

I have up to £1,200, but no more. So far I have looked at the Dawes Centurty SE, Ribble Audax, Condor Agio. But would welcome some more experienced advice!

I am in the process of organising a cycling holiday to the Ariège in the South of France from the 9th to 16th April. I am doing it on behalf of some friends who are setting up a Gite business based in the small village of Fougax et Barrineuf which sits just below the famous Cathar fortification of Montsegur. As an experiment they asked me if I would run a cycling holiday for them. suffice to say lovely frame set just realising it Is not and will not get much use and therefore decided to sell actually quite reluctantly. happy to post although welcome to collect - I am Bristol based.

I am selling my Moda Stretto 56cm Road Bike. It is in new condition save for slightly dirty bar tape. It has American Classic Aero 420 Wheels which are light and fast and use a unique engagement system.

The bike runs on Sram Force group set, and has Carbon Bars and Seatpost. I have done less than 500 miles on this bike and I am selling it due to injury keeping me off my bike for the next 6 months at least.

Next year the stretto is 300 pounds more so grab a bargin.
