Repeats every week every Saturday until Sat Mar 31 2012 .
October 6, 2012 - 00:00

Every Saturday North Cheshire Clarion CC hold skills rides from the Swan Pub at Winwick near Warrington. Pace steady and social, however these runs are not training rides, more over a vehicle to develop road riding skills and group riding. Covering on a rolling basis, week 1 is 24 miles and... more

Road Newbie seeks 1st bike advice!

Hi all,

I am embarking on a charity ride next summer, my first as a road rider!

We are riding across/through 25 counties in a week and the new mile tally is 556 miles, a quick calculator visit tells me that that is nearly 80 miles day.

Now my riding experience over my lifetime amounts to a touch of BMX racing in my youth and hybrid riding in recent times. As I enter my new life as a road rider I need to approach a few things to set me on my journey.

SOLD; Trek Madone 4.5 Full Carbon Triathlon Bicycle / Road Bike

**Please note this bike is now SOLD**

My Trek Madone 4.5 Race Bike - I have been using this bike for 2 seasons, but due to injury it has spent most of this year in my hallway. I have therefore reluctantly decided to sell it on.

FS: Wilier La Triestina Road Bike

Hi there guys - I've been asked by my dad to sell his Wilier as it's been replaced with a Surly (He's getting old!) so this one has to go.

It's a Large frame which suits most from about 5'10 - 6'3 (fairly short top tube).

Fantastic bike for those getting in to road cycling or wanting to upgrade to a smooth, italian racer.
The frame is Aluminium with carbon seat stays which, i'm told, give a really comfortable and zingy ride - Dad happily plods the miles on with this and hasn't moaned about it being uncomfy so it's got to be pretty good!

QACHIA C8.0

Received my Qachia C8.0 carbon frame today! The frame looks amazing especially the superb thin seat stays. The frame is quite light compare to others with tapered headtube and internal cable routing frame. Very high quality frame with the price! Can't wait to build it up! Wink

First Road Bike for a friend

My friend is buying a first road bike, and is looking to spend sub £600. For this I should imagine that she will be able to afford:
>Shimano 2300 or maybe Sora
>Carbon forks
>Decent tyres

I do know quite a lot about bicycles, so I recommended the following models:
-Specialized Allez 16
-Giant Defy 5
-Raleigh Airlite 200 or 300

The new bike is actually for a three day ride to Amsterdam later on in the year.

Being like minded with the designers of Cervelo bikes, you'll note that I didn't recommend any female specific bikes.
