First Road Bike for a friend

My friend is buying a first road bike, and is looking to spend sub £600. For this I should imagine that she will be able to afford:
>Shimano 2300 or maybe Sora
>Carbon forks
>Decent tyres

I do know quite a lot about bicycles, so I recommended the following models:
-Specialized Allez 16
-Giant Defy 5
-Raleigh Airlite 200 or 300

The new bike is actually for a three day ride to Amsterdam later on in the year.

Being like minded with the designers of Cervelo bikes, you'll note that I didn't recommend any female specific bikes.

Cube agree road bike

I'm in the process of searching for a road bike to upgrade from existing hybrid. Does anyone know how the size of cube bike frames compare to other manufacturers? I have read in other forums that the frames are smaller for some reason. I am 6'2" with 34" leg and have the option of a 58cm cube agree but it's an online deal so can't test it out beforehand and have no idea whether that is the right frame size for my build!

Decathlon Shoes

Is there anybody out there who is familiar with the Decathlon home brand's Cycling shoes:

B'Twin Road Caycling shoes 9

After trawling both the internet and my LBS, they seem like a relative bargain, what with their carbon sole and ratchet mechanism.

I thought that I would ask the largest cycling fraternity that I know of, the Road.cc forum.

I hope that you're not bored of these questions.

Pictures to follow. Nerd

I am a new user on here, but don't let that put you off as I am a BIG user on Singletrack (sister website), so you can check my history on there for authentication of my history...

I have used this bike once after buying it brand new in August 2010 (I still have the original handbook & receipt). I bought it to get fit after a bad MTB accident which seen me off the bike for 8 months, but only ever seemed to ride the MTB as I didn't enjoy riding the road bike on the one occasion I did.

Needless to say this bike is in MINT condition!

Size: 56cm

Breaking with tradition. Sort of.

First of all – let me wish everyone reading this a Happy New Year. It's the 2nd of January as I write this and I must apologise for not posting in a while. I've been very busy preparing for the upcoming Paracycling Track World Championships, and this has seen me away at training camps for a lot of the past 2 months. And when back at home, my time has been split between the track, the gym, the roads, trying to maintain some form of a social life and various other commitments. It feels like it's all go, all the time these days!

Ribble winter trainer/audax / Genesis Croix de Fer - Advice please!

Having just moved 8 miles out of town, I'm looking for something I can use to run the commute and for a bit of weekend fun/fitness, and that I can maybe think about doing some light touring on. I'm after a decent balance of speed and comfort, and something I can ride year-round.

I had been looking at a Genesis Croix de Fer, as that seems to be a sturdy workhorse that could easily cope with winter commutes and would be a bit of fun for the weekends. My concerns, though, are the weight and the price.

FS: Brand new Shimano Sora Compact Chainset & Brakes

Due to ongoing frame issues with the bike my girlfriend was planning to ride in her imminent tri, we ended up getting her a brand new Allez sport yesterday.

Given that I broke the old bike, I felt bad, so have started tricking out the allez with Ultegra kit. So, there's some brand new stuff come straight off it. Not even been ridden round the carpark, just a straight wheel to the car, and then whipped off like a naughty girls bra.
