Evening all, I am sorry to report that despite a few glimpses on ITV4 this evening, the Road.cc t-shirt (in shocking pink) wasn't that visible on our nations TV screens.

Tour Series time again...

And so, 12 months on from the last visit, the Halfords Tour Series reaches Peterborough this afternoon after a really successful event in 2009.

As with the previous event, this afternoons festivities kick off with the city council backed "Travel Choice Time Trial" which sees the local amateur riders from Peterborough CC and Fenland Clarion compete in a two lap event with aggregate times deciding the winner.

Been advised by Tour Series organisers that couple of the dates they sent earlier (see our article http://road.cc/news/17678 were the wrong way round - Peterborough is 15 June, Stoke-on-Trent is 17 June, NOT the other way round!

Winter Training!!

A missed opportunity!

I have been on an extended Christmas break from work (11th Dec '09 to 11th Jan '10), it was my intention to seize this opportunity and get some serious road riding in.

Having returned to Road cycling in June after 17 or so years of the bike I though this would be a perfect time to increase my fitness to the next level. But then the 'Big Freeze' set in!!

As the first week passed me by the icy conditions remained, at the start of week two I had had enough and invested in a Turbo Trainer and started getting the miles in.

Tour Series to return to Peterborough?

According to reports on local radio this morning, the Tour Series criterium is likely to return to Peterborough for a round next season.

Two dates are being considered in June 2010 for the event which, according to organisers SweetSpot, raised over £300,000 for the city's economy and brought 8,500 spectators onto the streets on a Thursday evening.

If successful in their negotiations, Peterborough council will be using the run up to the event to promote cycling and get more businesses involved in the event.
