Globe Cycle feels the 'Lance Armstrong' effect: 14,000miles, 144 days, 25 days to go
Yesterday it was Glasgow, (well Paisley) today the world as Globe Cyclist, James Bowthorpe felt the Lance effect. No sooner had Lance alerted his 1.7m followers to James' quest to ride around the world in record time and raise money for Parkinson's in the process than the Globe Cycle website experienced a surge in traffic and his following on Twitter trebled within hours – with hundreds of people re-tweeting messages about him.
5000 mile bike ride to meet Britain's coastline creatives
On Sunday Nick Hand, the man who's soundslide films celebrating the crafts people behind some of the legendary names in the British Cycling industry have proved so popular over the last few months set out on a new challenge – to ride 5000 miles around the coastline of Britain (and a few of its islands) recording more soundslide films with artisists, artisans and crafts people who live on or near the coast.

After his brush with danger in Iran last week – this week has been one of change for round the world cyclist, James Bowthorpe. He is now in India battling the heat and illness as he in his attempt to break the round the world cycling record.
Round-the-world cyclist pedals on after kidnap attempt
A frightening kidnap attempt prompted round-the-world cyclist James Bowthorpe to make a rushed departure from Iran in the early hours of the morning, skipping Pakistan and continuing his challenge in India.
The 31-year-old, who is attempting to beat the round-the-world cycling record, is still on track to shave a day off record-holder Mark Beaumont’s time, despite the incident, which left him “freaked out”, according to his girlfriend.
Round the world cyclist week 3: Istanbul
Round the world cyclist James Bowthorpe is now in Istanbul resting for 36 hours before the next leg of his journey. Since setting off March 29th (three weeks ago today) he has ridden through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, the Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and now Turkey, the next leg of his journey will take him through Turkey and then across Iran towards Pakistan and India. His goal is to ride 18,000 around the world in 150 days.
