Prendas Ciclismo Cordura Oversocks

Price:
£7.95

At the time of writing this review, it would appear spring has sprung. Undoubtedly, by the time you read this, it'll be raining. Or worse, snowing. For sure, spring is on the way though and when it arrives, these new Prendas Ciclismo oversocks are going to make you stand out on the roads while keeping the spring chill, and road muck, off your shoes.

Oversocks? In August? Surely some mistake

When I headed out on to the roads of East Sussex yesterday to test ride the new Merckx EMX-3 Ultegra Di2, borrowed from i-ride.co.uk for the day, I wasn't expecting to have to dig out an item of clothing from the depths of my wardrobe.

Usually reserved for spring and serving as a transitional item of clothing, from the winter protection of overshoes to naked shoes in the summer, oversocks are a handy accessory when it's a bit cold and damp. As it was yesterday.

DeFeet Slipstream oversocks

Price:
£14.99

Defeet's Slipstreams are are a solid pair of oversocks (figuratively and literally) and you get to feel just like a seasoned pro of yesteryear by having to manually cut your cleat holes. Whether that's cool or not is a matter of taste.

DeFeet were one of the first to create specific oversocks. Frequently seen covering shoes in the pro peloton, Slipseams must be good – or is it just because money has changed hands?

Prendas Ciclismo Meraklon Oversocks

Price:
£7.95

These oversocks – call them Belgian booties, if you like – are about as simple as they get, adding shoe protection and a little warmth on those days when a full overshoe would be excessive.
