Where to start with road bikes?
to work and cycle back.
It's a 17 mile ride which I am currently doing on a cheap Raleigh mountain bike, it does have the advantage of a suspension giving a little comfort on the poor roads but it feels quite heavy and sluggish when I get up any speed or have to stop and start at traffic lights.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good entry level road bike or can tell me the advantages of a road bike over a mountain bike and what I should be looking at when buying one?
Recovering from injury...(aka rollers, road shoes and turbos!)
So I have just returned from around a year off the bike due to serious injury and I find myself with a reasonable level of fitness, I want to get good again.
1) I need new cleats, shoes, the works, what would make a good pair for around £100? Best shoes? Best pedals?
2) Any advice on buying rollers? Do people prefer turbos? Are there good makes to look out for?
Thanks!
Trek Madone and carbon Cronus CX frames for sale-STILL AVAILABLE!
Hello,
I'm selling a couple of framesets I have in my arsenal of bikes.
Both are 56cm frames.
One is a Trek Cronus CX frameset. It was ridden a couple of times only. Looks thoroughly new. I've replaced it with a 2013 model.
It looks like this: http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/2011/archive/cronuscx
I'm asking £800 for this one, and I will include whatever bearing kit you need for the cranks you'd like to use. It has Trek's BB90 bottom bracket, so you don't need traditional bearing cups.

New road bike
I am looking to buy a new bike. I intend, probably being a bit optimistic here, up to £2500. I already have a 20 + year old Brian Rourke 531 frame road bike [it is a tourer really] and a 20 + year old Specialized mountain bike. I prefer the road to the off road. I am cycling to get fit and I hope to cycle to work occasionally [not on the new bike yet though] with a train journey as well. Not sure if now is the time to get the new bike or wait until the spring/summer. I want to have everything included for the £2500 not just frame.

Cannondale R600
Dilemma - I have a Cannondale R600, used for a year or then got the Orange to commute, I want to get into sportives, do I keep the Cannondale & swop the wheels (Gipiemme T-Tre 30 S) or sell it & get a new bike on the cycle to work scheme, i am thinking Boardman / Planet x / Dolan? Suggestions appreciated
If under 40(age)-what started you cycling?
As a cyclist for 50yrs-would like to know what started the younger cyclist of today, whatever type of cycling is involved.
