LAPD chief tells cyclists: "We feel your pain"
An unexpected wave of support for cyclists by the authorities in Los Angeles continues with the LAPD chief pledging to make his force 'more responsive' to cyclists' rights.
A vocal group of riders has been asking the city to do all it can to crack down on drivers who routinely abuse them and show no respect.
And, after a meeting with cyclists, LAPD chief Charlie Beck promised he would do more to look after 'our most vulnerable commuters.'

A former accident & emergency doctor in California has been found guilty of assaulting cyclists by overtaking them and then slamming on his brakes and he now faces up to five years in jail. In one incident he left a cyclist requiring 90 stitches and reconstructive surgery to his nose and several broken teeth.
'Only' 500 turn up for Lance Armstrong LA Twitter ride
In what is proving a regular tweet, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong was at it again on social network site Twitter as he invited riders out to join him for an informal ride in Los Angeles yesterday.
On Wednesday afternoon, Armstrong posted the following tweet invitation on his Twitter page: "Hey LA - get out of your cars and get on your bikes. Time to ride. 7:30 tomorrow am. Griffith Park, LA Zoo parking lot. See you there.."
