Gearing Advice

Hi All,

So I finally bought a new bike (Cervelo R3) that I found on ebay but need some help / advice on changing the current gear ratios.

It has come with full campagnola athema carbon groupset with 53/39 chain set and 11 speed 11 - 25 cassette.

My other bike had a triple chain set so this race set up is a little shock to the system and I simply dont have enough gears to get up the steep climbs I’m training on.

I'm 6 foot 2 and weight around 235 pounds, so not the smallest or lightest of riders. But the big ring on the new bike is a lot of fun and fast on the flat!

Navigation Advice Sought :)

Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some advice and tips on navigating. I've only been cycling for a year now but am finding when i go on longer routes (therefore in unknown areas) i keep having to stop and look at a map/end up on a motorway!

Just wondered how others follow a route, find a route or make up a route as they go!

At present ive tried taking a map but memorising key roads/features; making concise notes and a)sticking to top tube b)writing up my arm!

Am considering a top tube case with a clear panel for my phone?

Chain gangs in / around Cambridge?

My first post on here, so hello!

I've recently moved to a village just outside of Cambridge and don't really know any other road riders in the area at all. I'm keen to get out on my bike and hopefully meet some new riding people in the process. Also, having been off my bike for quite a while, my fitness is definitely not what it used to be and as such I don't quite feel ready to approach some of the main clubs in the area for fear of humiliation...

Food for Thought

Hi,

I'm helping a friend of mine out - Dr Garry Palmer from Sportstest. He is giving a seminar next week (Thur 1 March) on "optimal nutrition for endurance athletes" (see: http://www.sportstest.co.uk/Successful_Seminars.htm ) and needs a few more attendees to make it worthwhile.

Not sure if anyone has seen this but just wanted to draw your attention to it.

Also, Garry develops training programmes, so if this is something you are after you should check him out.

Cheers

Crank tapping noise

Hi guys,

after years of loving cycling i finally got myself a 2008 Trek 1.2.

It had only limited use when i brought it and i've done 450 miles.

I have noticed a tapping noise when i put pressure on the peddles, mainly the left hand peddle.

I'm not a bike techy yet so not sure on the cause or possible remedy.

Any help would be greatly apreciated

Cheers

Glen

I have started to train but I also have a bit of weight to loose as well so fighting two battles and once.

If anyone can give me any advice on training etc then I would be really greatful

Campag axle threads techie question

Crying
A broken rear axle in my 1989 Athena hub has led to my LBS struggling to find a replacement (130 spacing) They found a 10x26 axle which should fit but the cones are very tight, have heard that Campag made axles with another tread pitch around this time.

Can anyone clarify, what was the threading and where might I get one? Not much to ask Big Grin
