Genetic Heritage Double Crankset

Price:
£119.99

If you've got a older bike that needs some love, then the Genetic Heritage double crankset will look just the ticket on your 1980s steel bike. It's not cheap, though, and the alternative – buying a real period crankset – may make the finished bike more authentic.

Genetic Metazoa Road Brake calipers

Price:
£119.98

The Genetic Metezoa road brake calipers are a single pivot, cam actuated brake, similar to those found in Sram's new 2013 Red group. The purported benefits of this design are twofold; the light weight of a single pivot brake coupled with the stopping power of a dual pivot.

Addressing the first of these claims, the Metezoa scores well with an all up weight of 243g per brake, which is actually lighter than either Shimano or Sram's top level brakes. And at £119.98 for the set, these brakes easily undercut those from the big players.

Genetic Track Pro pedals

Price:
£29.99

Genetic's track pro are faithful copies of MKS’ high-end RX1 pedals approved by the Nihon Jitensha Shinkōkai (NJS), the Japanese Keirin association. Intended primarily for Velodrome duties, they may lack the NJS kudos but with low cage profiles and slick, sealed bearings they’ve broader horizons than track and wouldn’t look out of place on a classic 80’s road bike.
