British triathlon star Chrissie Wellington targets cycling gold at London 2012

One of Britain’s leading female athletes is reportedly considering switching from triathlon to cycling as she targets Olympic success at London 2012.

Chrissie Wellington, winner of the Ironman World Championships for the past three years, is considering focusing on the individual time trial in her quest for a gold medal, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

Bradley Wiggins will be sporting the British champions’ jersey when he lines up at the starting gate for next year’s Tour de France prologue in Rotterdam after winning this afternoon’s British Time Trial Championship in Buckinghamshire.

Nicole Cooke wins 10th British title and 9th in a row

Nicole Cooke held of the challenge of Emma Pooley and Lizzie Armitstead to take her 9th British National Road Race Championship in a row in Avergavenny today and her 10th in total. Cooke outsprinted her two main rivals to take the title after 80 miles of racing over a tough course.

Emma Pooley wins Tour de France Feminin

Briton, Emma Pooley won the Tour de France Feminin at the weekend a race which she and her Cervelo Test Team dominated – her teammate Christiane Soeder came second overall, with former world champion Marianne Vos, third.

The sprint for the final stage underlined Cervelo's grip on the race, although Vos claimed the stage win of the five riders in the lead group three were from Cervelo, Soeder came in second to claim the green jersey and Regina Bruins crossed the line in fourth place with Pooley on her wheel – all finished in the same time as Vos.

Today we speak to Olympic silver medallist, Emma Pooley, about her move to the new Cervelo Test Team, and her goals for this season and beyond. Pooley's performance in the 2007 World Championships, where she finished 9th in the road race and 8th in the time trial helped Team GB secure it place in the Olympic road race and time trial the following year.
