Two new events have been added to the CX sportive series calendar as cyclocross season gets underway, and more and more new events are announced.
The CX sportive series is expanding its number of events to feature two new rides this season. One took place in the Cotswolds on October 12, and the other is set to roll out in April 2015 in an as-yet-unrevealed location in the south of England. These rides will take pride of place alongside series-regular events on Salisbury Plain, the South Downs and the Chilterns.
With the cyclocross season now in full swing (what do you mean you hadn't realised) here is a roundup of cyclocross bikes from the Cycle Show 2014, with highlights from British companies Whyte, Raleigh, Boardman, Beacon and something from foreign brands Ritte, Bianchi and Van Nicholas.
A ladies only training session for all abilities with the emphasis on Cyclocross skills, ideal if you are considering trying Cyclocross or just want to improve your skills on a bike. This will take place at The Embankment Athletic Track on Bishops Road and will last for one hour. Some cross bikes are available to borrow for the session although any off road bike will be fine to use.
The cyclocross season is well and truly upon us and so it’s a good time to talk about tyres. Italian tyre brand Challenge launched their new Baby Limus cyclocross tyre at Eurobike last month. It plug a gap in the company’s range between the mud-specific Limus and Chicane.
Entries have opened for the fourth Rapha Super Cross Series that takes place next month. There are races aimed at everyone from children to elite riders.
Round one takes place in the grounds of Broughton Hall, near Skipton in Yorkshire, on Saturday 18 October, with round two at the same venue the following day.
Sunday’s races include a Yorkshire League points round which will draw in top riders from across the region.
