Commuter

I rode in to work today with my neighbour who is a regular cyclist over the summer. She doesn't cycle over the winter very often, but she certainly kicked my proverbial arse. Maybe it was because it was Monday morning and I was tired after a 40km mtb ride in gloopy mud yesterday or maybe her winter gym work was paying dividends. One thing though; the weather was so much better, a dry road with sun on my face, very cool. The mud yesterday was so sloppy, an American friend of mine described it as baby shit, he had never ridden in such conditions before.

Is anyone else fed up of the weather? What I wouldn't give for a day in the saddle with the sun on my face.

This seems to be quite a common problem in the states with people hacking electronic road signs. To further add insult to possible delays argues the point that bicycles are the best way to travel in town to avoid congestion but it possiblty isn't done in the most subtle manner. It made me laugh though.

I have carried some strange luggage on my bike over the last year but this one of the best.

This morning, uber grippy, fresh, crisp snow. MTB all the way to work, fantastic!

This evening, slushy, slippy, dirty snow splashed in my face by cars and no grip even with nobbly tyres, awesome.

Must add a CX bike to my stable for multi surface rides.

Well, back in the saddle after the holiday season and it is great! Despite or because of the freezing fog, snow, ice and temperature the riding is awesome. This morning was a veritable winter wonderland with a glistening frost and red clouds. Wrapped up with Buff thermal, over shoes and my trusted Altura Night Vision Jacket (the brightest and warmest I have), I set off into the traffic. Must get some pictures tomorrow in the snow!

Hi,

I have just taken delivery of a USE strada having used a Maxx D all year. I'm really looking forward to using it commuting, with it's dip capability.

The Maxx D is an unbelieveable light but I think the Strada may be more versatile for Urban  / Commuting use.

I may blind less riders travelling in the opposite direction.

Will give you an update soon.

On the side of the M40 (High Wycombe kind of way) is a sign which says; "why do i do this every day?".

Do you ever sit at your desk and wonder the same?

Thank God for the escapism of the commute.
