Brailsford cites "domino effect" among Team Sky's riders for Commonwealth Games withdrawals

Dave Brailsford, team principal of Team Sky has reiterated to road.cc that there is no conflict between his management role for the British pro outfit and the interests of the home nations who had selected Team Sky riders to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

Trust is already a commodity that’s in short supply at the Commonwealth Games, but now it seems that this includes trust between India’s own sporting bodies.

It has emerged that riders due to represent the country at the Delhi games have been required by Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials to sign a bond for their competition bikes - and are now threatening to hand the bikes back. The situation comes on the back of complaints by the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) that their equipment requests have been met with indifference from the SAI.

Cyclists pull out of Commonwealth Games

Peter Kennaugh and Geraint Thomas have withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games because of concerns over accommodation conditions and safety in Delhi.

The Isle of Man and Welsh team members both confirmed their decision to Cycling Weekly today. Kennaugh also suggested that fellow Team Sky riders Ian Stannard and Ben Swift had withdrawn from the England team.
