I have a lovely old SAB frame that's never been used. How do I know what type of bottom bracket to buy? I understand there are Italian v English threads?
I'm currently in the process of building up a TT bike (2008 Orbea Ordu) and when I went to fit the cable guide (a regular Shimano one) I found that the bottom bracket is too beefy for the cable guide to fit.
Does anyone know of any other kinds of cable guide that are available, specifically for bigger bottom brackets?
Thanks for taking the time to read!
A little bit of advice for the less technically minded please.
I currently own a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Tiagra 2010, spec via the Evans website:
I've got a Specialized Allez 16 and im looking to upgrade my groupset.
Since my bike has a square taper BB, what upgrades can i actually get? And would i be able to swap out the bottom bracket for a better one eg, hollowtech type?
Hope someone can help, maybe someone has already carried this upgrade out.
I've opened up, cleaned and re-greased my SRAM BlackBox GXP BB, one bearing spins perfectly, but I still feel 'grittiness' in the drive side's action. Any tips on how to get the last bits out?
Twenty grams lighter and markedly cheaper than a recently tested titanium model, One23’s composite external bearing bottom bracket has some interesting features but will have greatest appeal amongst budget conscious riders of moderate weight seeking a fit and forget Shimano compatible alternative. That said, I reckon it's capable of churning up to ten thousand plus miles before pensioning off.
External ceramic bearings and space age materials translate into almost the ideal bottom bracket for high-end bikes in demanding applications and the VNT from Van Nicholas is without doubt the smoothest I’ve come across in a very, very long time.
