Afternoon everyone,
I'm narrowing my choices regarding a new bike, but have a dilemma. Two of those on the shortlist are a Trek Madone 4.7 and a Canyon Ultimate CF 9.0. Extremely similar geometry (58 in the Trek = 60 in the Canyon), both full carbon good quality frames, both with Shimano Ultegra. However, the Trek has Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels, which the LBS tell me are "pretty much equivalent to Ksyrium Elites". Is this about right? The Canyon actually has Ksyrium Elites.

Bontrager wheels, Only used for around 50km before swapped out for a diff. pair, so as good as new really. Not the lightest but strong so ideal for a winter trainer/commuting purposes. 24 spokes front and rear, shimano freehub for 8,9, or 10 speed cassette.

The Bontrager RXL short sleeve Jersey is a lightweight option for the hot weather.

It's made from summer-weight polyester. The body fabric is what Bontager call Profila Dry while the side panels, which extend around to the underside of the arms, are Profila Cool. Both are reasonably stretchy and they dry superfast if you get them sweaty. The big difference between them is that while the Profila Dry is a standard knit, the Profila Cool is a mesh for extra ventilation.

The Bontrager RXL bib shorts are well cut and highly breathable, and they feature a very good seat pad to boot.

We've had a whole bunch of Bontrager clothes in on test recently and these shorts are among the best of them. These are actually Bontrager's second level shorts after the £129.99 RXXXLs, but they put in a high-end performance.

The new Bontrager Specter helmet is airy and adjustable and it brings most of the performance of the top-end Oracle down to a more affordable price point.

The Bontrager B1 base layer is a lightweight, fast drying base layer that's ideal for warmer weather.

This has become my default base layer over the past few weeks. When everything is washed and ready to go, it's the one I reach for first for warm rides.
