Right. You all know the story. Training for Etape, twatted off my bike by a twat in a twatmobile. Can't do it anymore.

Anyone still looking for a place to stay for a week in a nice private let studio flat just next to the finish line in Alpe d'Huez? Very reasonable rate and nice place to stay.... Also have a spare entry going.

Saturday promised much as a day of sport watching and partaking for me.

I recorded the Australia vs England rugby union international before heading out on my bike for some r+r (of sorts).

The rugby union match was ultimately a let down. It was nice to see England batter France in the rugby league international but it wasn't a good match as it was too one sided.

Marmotte - climb

The Saturday of the Marmotte was possibly the most emotional day I’ve ever had on a bicycle. Packed with legendary climbing, the Marmotte is tough. Tougher than anything else I’ve done. I was a bit below par on the day due to illness, but that's by the by: this is a serious bit of riding on roads which are the stuff of dreams, and there was fellowship, pain and tears along the way.
