Cannondale this week launched their brand new Synapse Hi-Mod in Italy, on the same Strade Bianche that the bike first debuted in the professional race earlier this year. Regular readers will be familiar with the bike; we've spotted it a couple of times beneath the Cannondale team, most notably Peter Sagan, who won Gent Wevelgem, was second at Tour of Flanders and has chalked up numerous other victories and podium finishes (probably best we don't mention Peter and podium in the same sentence though).
We’ve just had a catch-up with the guys at Raleigh and thought we’d give you a quick round-up of the road bike highlights from their 2013 range. They have some interesting new models in there.
We’ll kick off with the endurance road bikes. Raleigh have updated their Revenio range that's mainly aimed at sportive riders… and there are plenty out there.
Merida have just sent us full details of their 2013 range and here are the highlights…
First up, this is the new Scultura SL top-end road bike that Team Lampre will be riding next year… well, Team Lampre-Merida as they’ll now be known, their contract with Wilier having come to an end.
SwiftCarbon are at the Cycle Show that’s taking place at Birmingham NEC until the end of the weekend so we got the chance to take a first proper look at their range of bikes.
Swift is a new brand set up by former pro rider Mark Blewett. The idea is to produce performance bikes at reasonable prices. That doesn’t mean cheap – the frameset of the top-end Ultravox TI (yes, Ultravox) is £2,300.
The bike industry uses a different calendar to everyone else; it's already releasing 2013 model year bikes. In actual fact, there's been a steady trickle for the past month or so, and this will accelerate as the world's biggest, and smallest, bike brands gather in Germany next week for the Eurobike trade show.
Let's have a roundup then of what new bikes we've seen and what you can expect to see in your local bike shop in the coming months.
We’re just back from visiting Genesis and we can show you their new titanium Equilibrium, their new Volant aluminium road bikes, and the updates on the rest of the range for 2013.
We featured a prototype of the Equilibrium Ti back in February when we visited the Icebike show. This (main pic) is the final version.
