Mountain Mayhem Sportive 2011

Sunday Munch Route

route map

Anyone that came to the Mountain Mayhem sportive last year will know that this part of England has more than its fair share of picturesque lanes, and this year we've added in a few more! That means that the long option is now 110km, with a 65km shorter route if you're new to this sportive lark or you fancy a less testing ride of a Sunday morning.

110km

On top of the extra distance for the long route, there's also some extra climbing: instead of looping round the Malvern Hills the route now climbs up into the range twice, with ascents to Upper Colwall from both sides of the Hills. The second climb is the big one, heading up through the town of Great Malvern for more than 6km and topping out at 289m, the highest point on the route. On top of that there's shorter climbs to Froome's Hill, Acton Green and Alfrick. And, of course, the splash through Clencher's Mill Brook at the end!

65km

The shorter 65km route misses out the early climb up to Upper Colwall but you'll still need to drag yourself up the other early climbs, before once again splitting with the 110km riders for an easier loop round the bottom of Great Malvern and back to base.

Both routes promise to be challenging, egaging and appealing as they wind their way through the lovely Herefordshire lanes. There will be one feed stop on the short route and two on the long route, both well stocked with water, energy products and goodies.
